(Frequently Asked Questions)

What is a laser harp?

The Laser Harp—or Harp of Light—is a truly fascinating and futuristic musical instrument.

It is highly modern and futuristic, blending technology with art at the highest level—a feature that is greatly appreciated at corporate events.

It was developed based on the concept of a harp that uses laser beams instead of strings.

How does a laser harp work?

It can be conceptually likened to an electronic keyboard where laser beams replace the keys.

To optimize live performance, the venue lights must be turned off, and the environment needs to be darkened by 60–70%.

.

Are the strings of the laser harp really made of laser beams?

The Laser Harp—or Harp of Light—amazingly features a series of laser beams arranged in a fan shape instead of strings.

When you touch a laser beam, is a musical note actually produced?

Absolutely; a note is assigned to each laser beam, and the instrument is played much like an electronic keyboard. Instead of keys, we have laser beams.

Who invented the laser harp?

The renowned French musician Jean-Michel Jarre was the first—working with a team of engineers in the 1980s—to develop and use this musical instrument for live performances.

Can the audience really play a laser harp?

The public can experience the magic of playing light during sessions specifically dedicated to and supervised for this extraordinary interactive experience.

This creates a truly evocative and immersive art installation.

At what types of events can a laser harp be used?

The laser harp is particularly well-suited to corporate events thanks to its uniqueness, technological modernity, and the futuristic sensation it conveys—offering the experience of literally touching the future with one’s own hands.

Is it possible to customize the Laser Harp's sounds and colors?

Certainly; you can assign specific notes to the laser beams and choose from an infinite range of sounds representing any musical instrument (harp, flute, guitar, piano, saxophone, percussion, etc.).

In some cases, it is also possible to customize the colors of the laser beams to meet corporate requirements.

Among the various color options, green offers the best visibility and brightness.

Is the use of atmospheric smoke necessary?

Absolutely; the use of smoke (from a hazer smoke machine) is essential for optimal laser beam visibility. Our smoke machines create a light haze—similar to the lighting effects used in television studios—that ensures every laser beam is brilliantly bright and clearly visible.

Since the use of smoke (hazer) is essential, the relevant smoke detectors in the designated area must be disabled for the duration of the performance.

Can the Laser Harp be used outdoors?

Outdoor performances require thorough assessment and planning for each specific occasion.

To ensure the laser beams are clearly visible, it is essential to have smoke distributed throughout the performance area; however, outdoors, any breeze or wind tends to disperse the smoke, making the laser beams less visible.

How is a Laser Harp transported?

Various components are used to optimize the setup and performance of the Laser Harp.

We use our own vehicles to transport the necessary equipment independently.

Can the Laser Harp be used in a live performance alongside other musicians?

Certainly; there have been many occasions where it has been performed with other musicians (pianists, violinists, etc.).

Audiences are particularly impressed by the combination of a classical harp and a laser harp on stage.
